[boat refit] Dan buoy - no more Mr Nice Guy!

Post by Eddie » Mon Jul 13, 2020 1:03 pm

When we first got the boat the Dan Buoy was in the pilot berth with the tattiest, faded, vaguely pink flag you have ever seen

Wife very kindly made a splendid new red flag and we tied (temporarily - eventually must get an easy to release bracket - but still stuck in the marina so no rush) to the pushpit aft. Three weeks later the "ever-so-mild" seaside climate had turned it white and its edges frayed into tiny streamers.

Not to be outdone and undaunted, wife purchased special extra-tough red material and made a new flag. Six weeks later the "ever-so-mild" seaside climate had turned it white and its edges frayed into tiny streamers.

So, no more Mr Nice Guy. I gave clear instructions. Now the flag is made from thick red vinyl, no more of this namby-pamby material stuff - let's see what happens to that ...
